Alpha Game’s Hypergamouse

I had had the term “hypergamouse” (which is located in the frontal lobe next to the rationalization hamster) spinning in my head for awhile, as did a few Manosphere writers, but it never developed into anything more than a fun neologism. Until now.

Vox Day at Alpha Game Plan has collaborated with a partner called JartStar to create Hypergamouse, the world’s first comic about game, fleshed out by murine protagonists.

Strip 2

Now, the one thing I can’t figure out is, if VD so prizes the Sigma archetype he has identified (and identified with), why is his blog named after the alpha?

    SEO and blog traffic.

Awh, how adorable! Mouse-themed blogosphere doujinshi!

I shall call the pudgy ‘lil otaku mouse “Gus-Gus” [just like Cinderella's pudgy mouse companion]

Vox Day sure knows his Game – tiny cartoon animals are basically female kryptonite. How else do you think Sanrio stays in business?

First, thanks for brining the new comic to the attention of your readers. Second, I don’t prize the archetype. Each socio-sexual rank in the hierarchy is based on pure observation, not logic or imagination. I didn’t develop the concept of Sigma because I believed myself to be a special snowflake, but because it was very obvious to me that there was a big difference between me and others like me and those I observed to be the truly dominant socio-sexual Alphas.

Sigma represents high sexual rank without the corresponding high social rank that is customarily observed in Alphas. It appears to be broadly correlated with the introvert/extrovert divide, which makes sense because it is more difficult for an introvert to be socially dominant than it is for an extrovert. So, Sigma is a lower rank than Alpha, and since most people interested in Game are concerned with improving their socio-sexual rank, I named the blog after the apex of the hierarchy.

I did briefly consider naming the blog Sigma Game, but decided that in addition to the apex issue, there was too much chance of confusing it with Motorola’s Six Sigma management program whereas most people understand that Alpha relates to Game.

[A visit from the man himself. An excellent surprise.]

I had not thought of that angle at all. Nice catch.

Maybe because people would mistake it for a blog worth reading: one about Mega Man X.
